The Telangana state govt. on Friday launched, its own e-wallet mobile app named ‘T-Wallet’.
Making it first state in the country to launch dedicated e-wallet service through which the administration provides payments services for public and private transactions.
In first phase of its launch, the administration has brought its entire govt. departments under the T-wallet mobile app, where e-payments made through the app by an user is charged at free of cost.
And only private transactions done through merchant services will attract nominal fee charges.
An individual can avail the e-wallet payment services through mobile app on smartphones or features phone and also through online browser too.
And people those who have no phones, they can also use the service from 4,000 MeeSeva (e-governance centres) across the State.
T – Wallet app was developed in collaboration with Microsoft Accelerator alumni startup Transaction Analysts.
To start with, a user has to initially register for the service from mobile app or from https://twallet.telangana.gov.in/AadhaarRegistration.aspx , by entering Aadhaar card number.
The app uses two-factor authentication to make its more secure and built on Azure platform that boasts performance of the app.
To load money in the wallet, an app user can use electronic banking channels Credit Card/Debit card/Net Banking or through fund transfers modes IMPS and NEFT.
And a T-wallet user can also load their e-wallet in offline mode, depositing cash anywhere at MeeSeva centers across state.
The app was available in English, Urdu and Telugu languages making it more accommodate for general public.
With minimum details submitted during registration, a person can load money of upto Rs 20,000 in their wallet, and from above that level to upto Rs 1lakh, a user has to present KYC (Know Your Customer) documents.
So far, the app received good response from netizens. According to trak.in, more than 8000 users registered for the app services and more than 11,000 merchants registered, from whom the app users can make e-payments for purchases made at their businesses.
Use of e-wallet services seen tremendous growth and popularity among smartphone and internet users, since Demonetization.
The central govt. during the 45 day period, announced lot of benefits targeted to general public encouraging them to use digital wallet and payment channels with an aim to make cashless economy.
Eventually earlier this year, BJP-led NDA govt. launched BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) to promote e-payments.
